Psychiatrists are doctors like your GP, who are specialists in mental health. They can prescribe medications and can discuss diagnoses with you. They can also advise on practical things like whether it’s OK to drive when you’re taking medicines.

Dr Rick Fraser

My role within the EIS is as Consultant Psychiatrist which means I provide medical input for the teams in West Sussex. This includes assessment, thinking about diagnosis, treatment options (including medication) and arranging any investigations like blood tests or scans. I work alongside all the other professionals in the EIS and believe a team approach is extremely important. I have been working in EIS and with young people for over 10 years and am involved in research as well as developing better services for young people with mental health problems.
